I can't say if I'll post literature too often though, because DA really isn't a great place for that I think

AT FIRST THERE WAS A SPORE
A lazy floater in the wind, hardly visible in the eye of even the smallest creature.
Just one particle in an endless sky, worth no particular note.
One white speck of dust with a spark of life at the center
That settles down to the ground
And waits to be swept up in a world writhing with life and the living.
Very soon it is.
The brittle, curled up shell of an insect unfurls, turning pale from a spiderweb of cracks that consumes the entire body until it’s become a colorless white. Within it, one life was traded for another with the ingestion of one innocuous spore which had grown and multiplied inside of this vessel.
Greyed, whip-like antennae jerk frantically for some several moments, the full set of legs twitching just as wildly to regain footing against the moist stone and dirt. It can move now, of its own accord! What a strange new sensation it is to walk. The silverfish crawls out from its crack in the ground into a world far more tangible, far more interesting than the emptiness it knew before.
It is a stranger to this world, with a curiosity too large to go unsated.
It drags itself through blades of grass, hunks of dirt, and into the dark crevices of a brick wall, which uncoordinated spindles of limbs cling to as best they can to carry its weight along. Everything is new- a flash of strange instincts that the thing struggles to adjust to. Walking. Sensing. Seeing. This is a very large world- how good to have legs, what a good tool to move about, these little stilt limbs! Good for finding food and for touching and feeling and reading this environment! And these antennae, these eyes!
It feels out its surroundings, eating in every vibration and sound, and the tines of its mouth parts scrape across each new surface until it finds that it can chew into dead wood. For the first time in this form it feeds. Less satisfying when its food is long dead than it was to eat into this body. But it has no ability to muse on this.

Scuttering through light and shadow, motion and stillness. A wall. A carpet. Every so often a mass of something edible. Patiently it sits and it feels each rich new vibration traveling through the air. There is a language hidden in it, if it could only learn to read it. Sound- it’s loud when one of the larger things is communicating, and it’s starting to understand that the different tones mean different things. Yes, there are plenty of different kinds of creatures here, it’s beginning to learn. Vibrations through the ground, that’s movement. It means things are near, and it needs to take shelter, but what’s interesting is that it can gauge the size of something by the vibrations of movement.
There’s a growing itch to throw itself down before a creature of moderately larger mass. new.
Not yet though. It’s still growing.
--
Vaguely it can feel the pressure of each plate of chitin pushing outward, brimming with energy beyond what it can contain- it seems thus far unable to expand beyond this miniscule form (far far too small) despite all that it’s taken in, and that excess energy will waste if it does nothing!
It’s hungry to grow, and it's slowed the more it’s eaten in. It itches to become more and even without thought it knows that that's what it has to do.
Its perceptions have grown enough for it to seek out a larger vessel, one far faster than this one. All it takes is to bring itself into the open before one of the larger masses, and forfeit itself. A predator. A new body, a NEW experience.
Sudden spinning, tearing, flurries of chemical warnings
a CRUNCH
With that, the creature will outgrow this first skin.
Goodbye you stupid piece of shit bug
