Short Tailed Shrew Skeleton

The second full, assembled skeleton I have in my collection after the robin I put together some time ago! I have a couple other skeletons I'm still working on (slowly)

This one was one of my cat's kills which I held onto and which dessicated down really well! I always feel bad for these poor things because they can't even see very well and don't have much chance to get away or out once they get in the house \:

I've kept the skin on the hands and the end of the tail, and not completely picked everything clean, mostly because the connective tissue is holding together bones which are too small and too easily misplaced for me to be entirely comfortable working with. 

This little cutie taught me that what I've been calling moles my entire dingarn life aren't actually moles at all! Moles are apparently far larger than this (This guy's smaller than a mouse) And now I feel like a big weenie. They're shrews. Shrews!
